Pregnancy Care
Prepare your body for birth
Why should you see a chiropractor during pregnancy?
1
Pain is keeping you awake at night
2
Your baby is breech or posterior
3
You want a natural birth experience
4
You want to prepare your body in the best way possible for birthing
Are you looking for...
We understand that the term "breech" can concern many parents.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for your chiropractor to 'turn' your breech baby. That does not mean a chiropractor cannot help; it's quite the opposite. At Balanced for Life, we offer the Webster Technique, which aims to resolve what Dr Webster called intrauterine constraint (1). This technique encourages the baby to position correctly by correcting pelvic misalignment and reduces pressure on the mother's uterus, thus providing optimal space for the baby to move freely and present correctly.

2 \ Reduce Intervention, Prevent Induction
Intervention is sometimes necessary for the health and safety of the pregnant and baby. Yet, research indicates a growing and worrying trend in the number of interventions administered (3). Several maternal and clinical factors and medico-legal concerns may influence the increasing rates of caesarean sections. However, the reasons for the steep rise remain unexplained.
1985
15%
The World Health Organisation (WHO) proposed as the highest acceptable limit for caesarean section rates.
2017
33.7%
In Australia, the caesarean section rate was higher than the OECD average. It ranked 27th out of 34 OECD countries.
2019
36%
The percentage of women giving birth in Australia that had a caesarean section (AIHW 2021).
At Balanced for Life, our primary goal is to prepare the body for labour by addressing any musculoskeletal challenges that may arise during pregnancy. By carefully assessing and adjusting the spine, pelvis, and other relevant areas, we aim to remove any obstacles that could hinder the natural birthing process. Our holistic approach aims to promote optimal alignment and balance, allowing for a smoother and more comfortable pregnancy journey, reducing medical interventions during labour, and empowering women to experience the joy of childbirth as naturally as possible.
3 \ Prevent Potential Caesarean Section
With approximately 4% of all pregnancies resulting in a breech presentation, here at Balanced for Life, we recognise the significance of creating an optimal environment for your baby's development. According to a study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, specific chiropractic adjustments have shown an 82% success rate in turning a baby's head down(4). That's why we provide tailored pelvic adjustments, muscle and ligament release techniques, and specialised exercises. Our goal is to help create the ideal space for your little one and give them the best possible start in life. Let us support you throughout this journey.
