Why do I get back pain?

Get ready to groove with your spine! World Spine Day 2023 has unveiled its theme: "Move Your Spine."

This year's campaign is all about encouraging people to take care of their spines by staying active. Research has shown that sitting still and not getting enough physical exercise can lead to back problems and disability. "Move Your Spine" wants folks of all ages, from all corners of the world, to get moving and support their spine's health through regular physical activity.

Did you know that around a billion people suffer from spinal pain, and at any given time, a whopping 540 million people are dealing with it? It's crazy to think that low back pain is the top reason for disability worldwide, surpassing even cancer, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer's Disease combined!

In many parts of the world, especially in low- and middle-income countries, folks often don't have access to proper healthcare or experts who can help with spine issues. That's why it's crucial for communities to learn how to manage these problems themselves. Even in wealthier countries, back pain affects millions of people and has a huge impact on businesses and the economy. So, we need effective ways to manage and prevent spine issues, and this year's World Spine Day is all about promoting movement as a key part of this strategy. We're calling on governments, communities, and public health organizations worldwide to step up and take action against spinal pain and disability.

For the spine experts out there, World Spine Day is the perfect opportunity to make a real difference in your community and actively participate in the cause.

"Move Your Spine" (#MoveYourSpine) will shine a light on the various types of spinal pain and disability that people face at home, work, school, and in their communities. It will show everyone, regardless of their background, how they can help keep their spines healthy by staying active, avoiding prolonged sitting, not overloading their spines, and adopting healthy habits like weight management and quitting smoking. Let's get moving for a healthier spine! 💃🕺🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🌟 To learn more visit https://www.worldspineday.org/
